Sunday, Sept 23

Romantic ambling, brunching, tried to leave my blazer on a firehouse as an experiment. Made tacos, watched the eagles, bought beer, went to a museum, veggies at reading terminal market, friend galore!!!!, and watched this crazy light art installation above Ben Franklin Parkway undulating to the sound of my own voice recorded saying dirty words into an iPhone.

Here's a preacher I used to work with. Aside from that weirdness, I attended this awesome organizing conference of every progressive group on earth ( earth = Philadelphia) about how to stop dismantling public education.

Friday September 21

I had a very decadent day. I bought new running shoes at a fancy store. They ended up only being 2/3 or what I thought I was going to have to pay.

Then I went to a presentation on social media & civil society in Iran. it gave me some ideas about how online and offline protest movements fit together but mostly I think academics are silly.

The good news: I had the most free and decadent lunch at Penn. how do they pay for this stuff?

I took a trip down to an intersection where I read someone built and amazing pizza shop.

Turns out I misread it, and all they did was build a PLAZA ( not pizza ??$ in an already nice area. And they filled it with giant logs.

Wow. Great city planning, Mayor Nutter. Go jerk off the president of University of the Sciences.

Today was sad.

I went to hang out with someone from Camden. things are bad and I wonder if I should go back. I find out I'm more competent than I thought. Or maybe others are less so. Its reaffirming and depressing.


On the way back to Philadelphia I wept but I did see this pink packers license plate holder. I went running, it poured rain.

Bought my cats this food bowl???? It's not Russian roulette but an ingenious contraption that keeps them from spilling food everywhere.

Went to South Philly to search for Mexican independence day. We found nothing but tiny women on drugs and bikes, water ice, Cambodian people celebrating things, huge iggles fans yelling on roofs, and a man who told me I shouldn't go to a certain bar because it was "too dark... You know...dark..." ( HE MEANT BLACK PEOPLE WENT THERE???)


I found the mexicans on penns landing and immediately ran into my least favorite people and my most favorite restaurants from Camden.

Then I saw erotic art and sexy bodies and dancing and ate cheese puffs in re Latvian society.

It's weird because at the time the day was occurring I felt upset and stressed but in retrospect it was one of the greatest and most fun days ever!

Today we went for what is most likely our final brunch at my favorite brunch restaurant in Philadelphia, Cafe Estelle. The restaurant is closing and no one really knows why. I have gone there with out of town guests to get BYOV Bloody Marys and Screwdrivers. I've been there with weird elementary school exboyfriend.

This time when I went they gave us GIANT COFFEE MUGS, my ideal size. And they had Green Street Coffee!!! Which now since I work in the restaurant industry (!!!!?) I know the hot guys who roast it???

Anyway. I ate scrapple for maybe the last time!!!! Because Cafe Estelle is the the only scrapple I'll eat.

Anyway. Sad??????? Bye Cafe Estelle.

Canvassed at City Hall. Went to Camden, only cried a tiny bit. Coveted everything owl at target.

Went to a potluck. I loooooove high fives with 3 people or more.

Nothing interesting happened today except I went to work, slept a lot, ran a lot, was so hungry all day. I talked to my parents on the phone about cats and shared pix of kitty litter and my mom cried and told me she wants to smell my hair.

September 11, 2012

It's my anniversary today and I didn't see or speak to my boyfriend. I killed 9 flies ( picture of my cat looking at the flies is below) , cuddled with my kitties, ran 7 miles, and FINALLY went to Pizza Brain and Little Baby's Ice Cream with some (very) gal pals. It was by far the best pizza I've ever eaten.

Worked all day at GreenFest. Next to a hamburger truck spewing out extreme hot burger fumes.

Nearly puked. Was also hungover. Not a productive day. Ran 5 miles, but ate a lot of food. Must repent.

Saturday! September 7th 2012

My first Saturday off in many months.

Went running through the far Northeast.... To the Franklin Mills Mall. Hung out silently while soccer players said the most racist things I've heard in recent memory in real life. Got drunk, tried to watch Toys, went to an art & dance exhibit in an abandoned warehouse in Kensington, tried to take a 100 pictures of a pimple on my neck that I thought was a mole, got drunker , ended up at Watutsi.

Blah I didn't really take a picture today. It's Friday ??? I was so tired I went home and went to sleep at 11pm???? everyone else went out until 4am.

Mayor Nutter spoke today at the DNC in Charlotte. He gave a feminine-voiced & poorly orated nonsense speech about the importance of funding public education and middle class jobs.

For anyone even remotely aware of what's going on in the School District of Philadelphia, that is patently absurd. He is literally dismantling public education here, the king of tax breaks and targetted resource investment in wealthy corporations/hospitals/universities, and having a lot of problems with public sector unions.

His speech was awful so I hope he ain't got shit when it comes to national aspirations. He is a disgrace to our whole city and has absolutely no street cred.

Anyway, I hung out at city hall today chatting with people whose homes are in foreclosure. I had to get up at 7am ???? Ughhhh so obviously I took a nap afterwards.

It's super creepy photo day!!!!

I dyed my hair creepy red on a whim ( 28 wash temporary hair color 50% off on Pathmark clearance shelf-- the best shelf.)

And I am striving to give my cats the attention and exercise they need in y tiny apt. They're a little keyed up.

A teeny tiny espresso cup. And my lap top in an office! I went to an office to do some work today and it was really fun!!

Celebration of organized labor at Penn's Landing, overlooking the Camden waterfront....

Crawling under and over poorly design freeways so we could stand in the pouring rain drinking free miller lite in a plastic bottle and eating a hot dog and flaccid french fries.



Sounds like pretty much every other labor day I've experienced.

It was actually fun???

Day 42

Spent last night in the ER, went to a meeting, saw my favorite sign at the City Hall train station!!! This is where I fell while wearing high heels going to y shitty lawyer job for 1 day.

Day 41

It's September! Phew summer is almost over.

bAAck to meetings in church basements, a mosaic to beer ( not in my mouth), I finally went to Shake Shack, I keep falling and hurting myself. Don't know why.

Also I spend my night in the ER with a sick friend. A varied and weird day over all.

Day 40

It's another sandwich post! After doing a funny presentation at the Mexican Consulate (??$) I got a $6 footlong from Subway. I ate half for lunch and half for dinner.

I love Subway. Sorry I'm not sorry. All the advertising they've done on with Jared and on The biggest Loser totally worked on me. Pretty sure there's no way to get a less expensive meal that lasts for two meals and isn't unhealthy and that's filling????? At a restaurant
